Todd R. Daviau, Ph.D.; Co-Founder, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Magellan has been involved in marine natural product chemistry for the past fifteen plus years since graduate school at the University of Maryland's Center of Marine Biotechnology (COMB). Mr. Daviau holds a Ph.D. in Biotech/Entrepreneurial Management as well as an M.S. in Chemistry. In addition, he holds a B.S. in Marine Biology and Chemistry from Roger Williams University. Mr. Daviau has held several positions as an analytical chemist and consultant to the pharmaceutical industry (including Nova, Scios, Guilford and SunPharm), most recently as the Director of Analytical Chemistry and Preformulation for MDS Pharma Services in Tampa, Florida. He has extensive experience in the separation, isolation and analysis of novel pharmaceutical compounds and biotechnology products.
John M. Cronan, Jr., Ph.D.
Chief Scientific Officer
John Cronan, Ph.D. is Co-Founder of Magellan as well as Chief Operating Officer and Vice President of Research and Development. He holds a Ph.D. in Natural Products Chemistry from Montana State University, and an M.S. degree in Organic Chemistry from Louisiana State University. Prior to co-founding Magellan, Dr. Cronan served as manager of the Mass Spectroscopy Laboratory while at LSU, and also as manager of the NMR facility at the University of Maryland 's Center of Marine Biotechnology. He has published works in the area of marine microbial/invertebrate symbionts in addition to his research in natural product chemistry from marine micro- and macro-organisms. Dr. Cronan is the principal investigator on several patent classes, and has extensive experience in organic synthesis, structural elucidation and molecular modeling (QSAR).
